To The Members of The Robert Churchwell Foundation:

The Scholarship Committee met on April 29 to appraise and evaluate the applications for the first Robert Churchwell, Sr. Scholarship.  After much deliberation, the Committee has decided to recommend to the Board the following student who best fits the criteria you established:

April T. Baileywill be a senior at Middle Tennessee State University majoring in Journalism.  She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and a mentor for the AVID program.  Her journalistic samples included articles published in the MTSU newspaper Sidelines.  She has a GPA of 2.9 and is a 2008 graduate of Hillwood High School in Nashville.    

The Committee asked the Foundation staff to follow-up with the student to verify expenses, need, acceptance at the schools, etc.  Before the final awards are sent, each student’s financial aid package is reviewed to ensure that our funds are applied appropriately.

The Committee and the Board are delighted to be a part of making a difference in the lives of such fine students.  Our thanks for making this possible and for allowing us to help.
